What are the half-filled circles for?
Everything from moon-phase notation to half-star ratings to toggle states — ◐ is the classic “partial” at one character. This site’s own theme toggle uses it.
Why does it look different on my friend’s phone?
Every platform draws Unicode characters with its own fonts, so the same character can look subtly (or wildly) different between devices. The character you copy is identical everywhere; only the drawing changes.
