Check Mark Symbols FAQ
Which tick should I use in a spreadsheet?
The plain ✓ or heavy ✔ text characters — they inherit the cell’s font and colour and never balloon into emoji. The green ✅ is an emoji and brings its own colour everywhere it goes.
Why does it look different on my friend’s phone?
Every platform draws Unicode characters with its own fonts, so the same character can look subtly (or wildly) different between devices. The character you copy is identical everywhere; only the drawing changes.
