What this tool does
About the unix timestamp converter
Automatic unit detection is shown rather than hidden, and ISO output includes its time-zone offset. You can also convert a chosen date back to Unix time.
How to use it
- Paste the timestamp, or enter a date-time to convert the other way.
- Confirm the detected unit — seconds versus milliseconds is shown, not guessed silently.
- Read the UTC, local and ISO 8601 renderings side by side.
- Copy the format your log, query or ticket needs.
Useful for
- Turn the epoch numbers in logs and API payloads into readable dates while debugging.
- Get the Unix timestamp for a specific date when writing a query or a test.
- Check whether a mystery timestamp is seconds or milliseconds — the classic 1970-or-far-future tell.

Unix Timestamp Converter FAQ
Why does my timestamp show a date in 1970 or the year 56000?
Unit mismatch: seconds read as milliseconds land near 1970; milliseconds read as seconds land in the deep future. The converter shows which unit it detected so the mistake is visible immediately.
Is Unix time affected by time zones?
No — it counts UTC seconds since 1 January 1970. Time zones only appear when you format it for humans, which is why the tool shows UTC and your local rendering separately.
