About the code diff viewer
The local viewer uses a bounded line diff, preserves whitespace and offers side-by-side or unified output. It does not execute or validate the code.
How to use it
- Paste the original and the revised version.
- Choose unified or side-by-side, and whether trailing whitespace counts.
- Read the highlighted insertions and deletions line by line.
- Copy the relevant hunks into your review notes or commit message.
Useful for
- Diff two config files from different environments to find the drift.
- Review what a colleague changed in a snippet sent outside version control.
- Compare generated output before and after a refactor to prove nothing moved.

Code Diff Viewer FAQ
Why use this instead of git diff?
For the code that never made it into git: configs from a server, snippets from a chat, exports from two systems. Same reading experience, zero setup, and nothing leaves your browser.
Does it understand my language’s syntax?
It diffs lines, not grammars — deliberately, so it works on any text and never misleads with clever guesses. For semantic-aware diffs, your IDE is the right tool.
