What this tool does
About the json formatter & validator
The editor parses content locally, preserves data types and offers configurable indentation. Invalid input stays untouched while the error position is explained.
How to use it
- Paste the JSON.
- Format with your indent choice, or minify.
- If parsing fails, read the error: line, column and an explanation of what was expected.
- Copy the valid result; invalid input is never silently “fixed”.
Useful for
- Pretty-print a wall of minified JSON from an API response so humans can read it.
- Find the exact character breaking a config file that “looks fine”.
- Minify JSON before embedding it where bytes matter.

JSON Formatter & Validator FAQ
Why won’t it just fix my almost-JSON?
Because guessing intent corrupts data: trailing commas, single quotes and unquoted keys each have multiple “fixes” with different meanings. Showing you the exact error position keeps you in charge of what the data says.
Is it safe to paste API responses with real data?
Parsing and formatting run entirely in your browser — nothing is transmitted or stored. Still, habit matters: strip credentials and tokens before pasting anything anywhere, including here.
