Music Note Symbols FAQ
Why does the treble clef sometimes show as a box?
The clefs live in a supplementary Unicode block that a few older fonts skip; the notes and accidentals are near-universal. If a clef fails somewhere, the humble ♪ never does.
Why does it look different on my friend’s phone?
Every platform draws Unicode characters with its own fonts, so the same character can look subtly (or wildly) different between devices. The character you copy is identical everywhere; only the drawing changes.
