What this tool does

About the keyboard & tech symbols

The keys as characters — command, option, shift, escape, return, delete — plus power symbols, for documentation that shows real keys.

How to use it

  1. Search the keyboard symbols by name, or scroll the grid.
  2. Click any entry to copy it to your clipboard instantly.
  3. Click several to collect them in the tray, then copy the combination in one go.
  4. Paste wherever you need it — the characters are standard Unicode.

Useful for

  • Write shortcuts properly: ⌘⇧S, not “cmd shift s”.
  • Document Mac and Windows keys with their actual glyphs.
  • Copy the power symbol ⏻ for interface copy and labels.

Keyboard & Tech Symbols FAQ

What is the ⌘ symbol’s story?

It is the Swedish campground map sign, picked for Apple in 1984 when the Apple logo was deemed too much. Forty years on it still means command — and lives in this grid because no Windows keyboard can type it.

Why does it look different on my friend’s phone?

Every platform draws Unicode characters with its own fonts, so the same character can look subtly (or wildly) different between devices. The character you copy is identical everywhere; only the drawing changes.
