About the image colour picker
Zoom and keyboard nudging make precise sampling easier, while a small neighbourhood average can reduce compression noise. Values remain device-colour approximations.
How to use it
- Load the image and click near the colour you want.
- Zoom and nudge with the arrow keys for pixel-precise sampling.
- Use the 3×3 or 5×5 average on JPEGs to smooth compression noise.
- Copy the value as HEX, RGB or HSL.
Useful for
- Lift the exact brand colour out of a logo file for your stylesheet.
- Match a design element to a colour in a reference photo.
- Build a small palette from an image by sampling several points.

Image Colour Picker FAQ
Why does the picked colour look different on another screen?
The value is read from the decoded pixels, but displays render colour differently and JPEG compression shifts hues slightly. Treat it as a device-colour approximation — for exact brand colours, the published brand value beats sampling an image of it.
What is the neighbourhood average for?
A single JPEG pixel can be noise. Averaging a 3×3 or 5×5 patch lands on the colour your eye actually sees in that area.
