What this tool does
About the favicon generator
The browser creates six transparent PNG sizes and previews small-icon legibility. It does not invent missing detail or package proprietary platform formats.
How to use it
- Load a square source image — 512px or larger works best.
- Generate the set: 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512 pixel PNGs.
- Inspect the small sizes in the legibility preview, on light and dark.
- Download the files and wire them up — the Web App Manifest Generator next door writes the manifest that references them.
Useful for
- Generate the full favicon size set for a new site from one square logo.
- Produce the 180px apple-touch-icon and 192/512px manifest icons in one pass.
- Check whether your mark is still legible at 16 pixels before committing to it.

Favicon Generator FAQ
Which favicon sizes does a site actually need?
16 and 32 for browser tabs, 180 for iOS home screens, 192 and 512 for the web app manifest. That is exactly the set produced — no padding the download with sizes nothing requests.
Do I still need an .ico file?
Modern browsers accept PNG favicons, but a classic favicon.ico remains the safest fallback for old agents and hardcoded /favicon.ico requests. This tool is honest about being PNG-only.
