Tone Generator FAQ
Why is the volume capped?
Pure tones concentrate energy at one frequency — headphone damage happens FAST above moderate levels, especially 2–8kHz where ears are most sensitive. The cap plus the warning is the tool taking hearing seriously; please match it.
What do the waveforms sound like?
Sine is the pure reference; square is hollow and buzzy (odd harmonics); triangle is a softer square; saw is bright and brassy (all harmonics). Speaker testing wants sine; the rest are for ears and synthesis intuition.
