What this tool does
About the xml sitemap validator
The local parser supports sitemap and sitemap-index documents, reports malformed entries and counts declared URLs. It does not submit or crawl any destination.
How to use it
- Paste the sitemap XML or upload the .xml file — parsing is local, nothing is submitted anywhere.
- Run validation; both urlset and sitemapindex documents are understood.
- Read the report: structural errors, malformed URLs and entries, declared URL count against the 50,000 limit.
- Fix the flagged entries at the source that generates the file, then re-check.
Useful for
- Validate a generated sitemap before submitting it to Search Console.
- Find the malformed entry breaking an otherwise fine sitemap.
- Check a sitemap index references its child sitemaps correctly.

XML Sitemap Validator FAQ
My sitemap is valid — why aren’t all its pages indexed?
A sitemap is an invitation list, not a guarantee: search engines still judge each page on quality, uniqueness and crawl budget. Validity removes the technical excuse; it cannot manufacture merit.
What are the actual size limits?
50,000 URLs and 50MB uncompressed per sitemap file — beyond that, split into multiple sitemaps under a sitemap index. The validator counts your entries against exactly these limits.
