Dog Age Calculator FAQ
Where does the new formula come from?
A 2019 UC San Diego study matching DNA methylation clocks between species — actual measured ageing, not folklore. Its curve says dogs age FAST early then slow: 1 year ≈ 31, 4 ≈ 53, 10 ≈ 68. The ×7 line was never science.
Does breed change the answer?
Substantially — great danes age roughly twice as fast as chihuahuas in lifespan terms; the formula (built on labradors) is an honest all-rounder. For care milestones, size-specific vet charts outrank any single curve.
