What this tool does
About the quadratic equation solver
Real or complex, repeated or distinct — the whole story, not just x.
How to use it
- Enter a, b and c.
- Read the discriminant first — it announces the root type.
- Read the roots (real or complex pair).
- Use the vertex line for optimisation questions.
Useful for
- Solve homework with the discriminant reasoning shown.
- Find where a parabola crosses (or misses) the axis.
- Get the vertex for a max/min problem.

Quadratic Equation Solver FAQ
What does the discriminant actually tell me?
b²−4ac announces the ending before the formula runs: positive → two crossings, zero → one touch, negative → the parabola never meets the axis (complex roots). Reading it first is the habit worth learning.
My teacher wants the working, not the answer.
Good teacher. The tool shows discriminant, both root computations and the vertex — check YOUR working against it rather than copying; the exam has no textarea.
