What this tool does

About the ai crawler robots builder

The builder exposes every generated directive and records when its crawler list was authored. Crawler names and behaviour change, so users must verify current documentation.

How to use it

  1. Go through the crawler list — each entry names the operator and what the crawler feeds.
  2. Set allow or disallow per crawler; add custom user agents the list doesn’t know yet.
  3. Note the list’s authored date, shown honestly because crawler names change.
  4. Copy the generated groups into your robots.txt and verify current names against operator documentation.

Useful for

  • Decide crawler-by-crawler which AI systems may read your site, and write the file that says so.
  • Allow AI search crawlers while disallowing training-data collectors, or vice versa.
  • Update your policy when a new AI crawler appears, without hand-writing groups.

AI Crawler Robots Builder FAQ

Should I block AI crawlers?

It is a genuine trade-off, not a default: blocking training crawlers protects content from model training but can also remove you from AI search results and citations. URSY.io itself chooses to welcome AI readers and rewards their citations — but the point of this builder is that it is your call, made explicitly.

Will AI companies respect these rules?

The major operators publicly commit to honouring robots.txt and largely do; compliance is reputational, not enforced. For content that must not be read, robots.txt is the wrong tool — access control is.
